Life at Bidasoa

The rapport and friendship among companions from different geographical, social and cultural origins fosters a broader outlook in the seminarians, so as to live in unity and priestly brotherhood with all, avoiding any discrimination owing to differences in character or culture.

The informal gatherings (tertulias), sports activities, excursions, hiking and cultural visits, promote mutual enrichment among the seminarians.

Collaboration in some maintenance tasks at the College encourages a family atmosphere and instils in the seminarians a sense of responsibility, generosity and a spirit of service towards others.

Daily life at Bidasoa helps each person acquire a deep experience in pastoral charity.

The University of Navarre, begun in 1952 through the initiative of Saint Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer, founder of Opus Dei, is a private university with a Christian identity.

Most of the academic and research centres of the University are located on the campus in Pamplona, the capital of Navarre, where more than twenty licentiate degrees in different fields are offered.

Since 1988, the Institute for Religious Studies has depended on the Faculty of Theology.

Pamplona and its surroundings

Navarre, with an area of 10,000 km2, has approximately 500,000 inhabitants.

It is a region with a rich cultural and artistic heritage. Two routes of the Camino de Santiago pass through Navarre. Churches and buildings of noteworthy artistic and historical value can be found in many of its towns and cities.

The vitality of Christians from the Navarre region has, in past centuries, provided an important contribution to the Church's missionary activity.

Pamplona, a pleasant city of about 200,000 inhabitants, has a walled, medieval centre, as well as modern architecture and urbanisation. Its airport offers daily flights to and from Madrid and Barcelona.
