What is Bidasoa Ecclesiastical International College?

The Bidasoa International Ecclesiastical College, erected by the Holy See in 1988, is an International Seminary under the direction of the Prelature of the Holy Cross and Opus Dei. The students are candidates for the priesthood sent by their bishops to prepare themselves for the service of their respective dioceses. The philosophical and theological studies are carried out in the Faculties of Ecclesiastical Philosophy and Sacred Theology of the University of Navarra, in Pamplona (Spain), in accordance with the prevailing norms on priestly formation.

In its first twenty three years of existence, 511 seminarians pertaining to 160 dioceses from 29 countries received ordination as priests.

Currently, Bidasoa has 109 seminarians from 46 dioceses and 16 different countries.

The centre, which began in 1988, was erected by the Congregation of Seminaries and Universities.

Recordamos como una bendición de Dios, la visita que nos hizo el entonces Cardenal Joseph Ratzinger, el 2 de febrero de 1998, con ocasión de su estancia en la Universidad de Navarra, para recibir el Doctorado Honoris Causa.
